NXT's First Pro Poll

This past Tuesday NXT (on Scifi) had it's first pro poll. NXT is the WWE's new "reality" show. They have 8 professional wrestlers mentoring 8 NXT rookies. This week they polled the pros. The pros had to pick their favorite rookie based on the following criteria; win loss records, strength of their opponents, work ethic, and the "it" factor. The pros cannot vote for their rookie.

Here are the results:

#8 is Darren Young (Pro CM Punk). Young has 3 wins and 2 losses, and crazy hair.

#7 is Michael Tarver (Pro Carlito). Tarver has no wins and 4 losses.

#6 is Skip Sheffield (my personal favorite). His pro is William Regal. Skip has zero wins and 4 losses. His vest says cornfed meathead. I like his personality and he's very strong.

#5 is David Otunga (Mr. Jennifer Hudson). His pro is R-Truth. Otunga has 4 wins and 1 loss. Otunga has stars shaved into his hair. He recently won the rookie battle royal winning himself the opportunity to guest host Monday Night Raw.

#4 is Heath Slater (Pro Christian...Christian Slater...cracks me up). Slater has 4 wins and 1 loss.

#3 is Justin Gabriel (Pro Matt Hardy). Gabriel has 3 wins and 2 losses. Gabriel has the best moves out of all the rookies. His 450 splash is very impressive. And I think he looks a lot like Adam Lambert from American Idol.

#2 is Wade Barrett (Pro Chris Jericho, the World Heavyweight Champion). Barrett has 3 wins and 3 losses.

And the biggest shock of all, #1 is Daniel Bryan (Pro the Miz). Bryan has lost all 5 of his matches. I had a feeling from the beginning, based on the hype surrounding him, that Bryan could be a possible winner. He's had some interesting matches on NXT (vs Jericho, Great Khali, etc). But I find him a little boring. And I wish he would wear nicer looking ring attire. I'm not sure that Bryan has the "it" factor that makes wrestlers so endearing. I guess time will tell.

The first elimination on NXT will be held in 6 weeks.

St. Patrick's Day

St. Patrick's Day is tomorrow, March 17th!

Here's a little bit of info on this special holiday
  • St. Patrick is most commonly known as the patron saint of Ireland
  • The original color of St. Patrick's Day was blue. It was later changed to green because of the shamrock, which St. Patrick used to teach people about the holy trinity (God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit).
  • At one point in history, the Irish believed that wearing green was very unlucky. If you wore green fairies would capture you and take you away.
  • The Irish traditionally had lamb and root vegetables, not corned beef. I also heard they ate Irish bacon.
  • Corn beef was most likely created in Manhattan in the 1800s. It's believed that the Irish took the idea of corn beef from the Jewish brisket.
  • Corn beef has nothing to do with corn at all. It got it's name from the large pieces of salt used to cure the meat.
American's really love St. Patrick's Day. The picture below is proof.

They dyed the water in the fountain green for last St. Patrick's Day (2009).

Weight Watchers Info

Corn beef is 6 points for 3oz of meat
Cabbage is a freebie, but it will probably make you gassy
I think that carrots are free too!

Green beer is definitely not a freebie, but I suggest you food color Bud Select 55. It's only 1 point for a 12oz bottle! And it almost tastes like Bud light, which is 2 points.

Robert is Bothered

If you haven't watched this video yet, check it out. Jimmy Fallon does this really funny and adorable skit about Robert Pattinson, called Robert is Bothered. He even has a website with all the videos. Basically he dresses up like Edward and sits in a tree complaining about silly things like Valentines Day, Daniel Radcliffe, sequels... The other day on the Jimmy Fallon show Robert Pattinson was the guest and he climbed into the tree with Jimmy. It's a little hard to hear some of the sound because of the roaring audience, but it's definitely worth a watch.

New Moon is Finally Coming Out in DVD!

Yay!! I've been waiting for what feels like forever for New Moon to come out in dvd, or blue ray, if that's your thing. It comes out March 20th.
I loved it in the theaters and I've been watching the first Twilight over and over again...
You can pre-order the movie from amazon by clicking the link to the left.
Or Target has a special 3 disc set, that you can pre-order here. It's pretty cool. You get a film cell and 60 minutes of bonus footage that you don't get in the 2 disc set. And it is only available at Target.

Eclipse is hitting theaters on June 30th. I have a countdown widget for the release date near the bottom of the right side of my blog.

We Miss You, C.M. Punk. Come Be A Fan Favorite Again

I've been looking up wrestling a lot online lately. And it reminded me of how much I loved C.M. Punk when I was first introduced to him on the WWE. Don't get me wrong, I do actually like the whole straight edge, saving the audience storyline. I like that he acts like he's Jesus and shaves peoples heads. But I really do miss the C.M. Punk of old. And I've also gotten a new appreciation for him. I saw some old videos and I'm really impressed by his skills. I never really gave much thought to how many moves were censored on the WWE. Punk's Pepsi Plunge, which was basically a pedigree off the top rope, can't be seen because of Triple H's finishing move. I've also seen Punk do the Miz's finisher, and I'm really quite impressed.

Check out this video on youtube, it shows some of his best moves. There's a lot more to him then the Go to sleep and the Anaconda vice. I especially like the title of the move Welcome to Chicago, Motherf**er. This Pepsi Plunge is also worth checking out.

WWE NXT Starts Tonight!

The WWE's new show NXT debuts tonight. It's a new reality style wrestling show, in which 8 superstars mentor 8 rookies. Originally the 8 superstars were Chris Jericho, MVP, the Miz, C.M. Punk, Christian, R-Truth, Carlito, and Matt Hardy. Today I learned they have replaced MVP with William Regal. I can only assume they have bigger and better plans for MVP then beeing on the new show.
Facts I'm learning about the show...

  • David Otunga (paired with R-Truth) is engaged to Jennifer Hudson and is her baby daddy too.
  • Daniel Bryan (paired with the Miz) has been wrestling for ten years under the name Bryan Danielson. He was also trained by Shawn Michaels and William Regal.
  • The pairs will be divided into two teams, called the heels and the faces.
  • David Otunga was also known as Punk on I Love New York 2
  • The rookies all come from Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW)
  • The winning rookie will receive a WWE contract
  • The show is supposed to be a cross breed of live wrestling and reality tv
  • Bryan Danielson is also known as the American Dragon and has wrestled with John Cena, C.M. Punk, and Ted DiBiase

It should be interesting to see what happens. You can check out youtube for videos of the rookies in action.

Weight Watchers

So, I just started Weight Watchers last week. It's been going very well. I've only had to deny myself a little bit of what I wanted. But I'm still eating chocolate, drinking beer and I've lost like two pounds already. Weight Watchers makes it so easy for you. They give you a starter set that includes a complete food guide, which lists just about anything you might want to eat. It also includes a book for dining out. You can find all your favorite restaurants in there. I'm especially surprised by what I can eat at Taco Bell and Subway and still fit into my plan.

Weight Watchers also sells all kinds of snacks and goodies that are only a point or two per item. I bought carrot cake and brownies. The carrot cake is delicious. The brownie was alright, but it had that fake chocolate flavor too. I have a box of truffles that I received for Valentines Day that I like to keep around. It's two points per truffle, but it's awesome when you're craving chocolate.

The cook books you can get for Weight Watchers are impressive also. They have ones that you can fix quickly, skillet meals, books for foods you crave, like french fries.

I'm also learning how to revamp my food. The other day was my fiance's birthday and I wanted to make him a cake. Now cake is not exactly ideal for anyone on a diet, but there are ways to make it just a little better. If you substitute apple sauce for the oil, you'll save yourself a point. And it still tastes moist and delicious. You should also get rid of the frosting. Putting a dab of cool whip on top is a good way to trick yourself into believing it's frosted. You can even flavor the cool whip with vanilla extract or any flavor you like. I want to try adding a little creme de menthe and see how that tastes.

I'm still very excited about the point system, going into week two. I guess we'll have to wait to see how my results turn out.
